Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE unveiled a Dual display equipped smartphone, the ZTE Nubia X back in late October of 2018. The ZTE Nubia X features a Gorilla Glass 3 covered main 6.26in Full HD+ tall 19:9 IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels that makes up for a pixel density of 403 PPI. A secondary, again Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5.1in HD+ display is present at the rear of the device which is of the AMOLED variety, also featuring an aspect ratio of 19:9 but a resolution of 720 x 1520pixels.
The performance all you need is handled by the latest and greatest, flagship grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled to an Adreno 630 GPU aided by 8GB of RAM on the 128GB, 256GB and 512GB variants and 6GB of RAM on the 64GB storage variant. Speaking of which, the internal memory is non-expandable, meaning the device is not equipped with a memory card slot. Coming to biometrics, two fingerprint scanners are located at either side of the device, all thanks to the dual screen design.
Dual camera setup
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup featuring a primary 16MP (f/1.8 lens) (PDAF) + 24 MP (f/1.7) (PDAF). You can shoot videos at a resolution of up to 2160p @ 30fps. As the device features a secondary display, there is no requirement for a front camera system whatsoever.
Battery power, connectivity and Android OS
A 3800mAh battery is onboard to provide enough juice to the ZTE Nubia X. A USB-C port for charging and data transfer is onboard the device.
Coming to the connectivity side of the device, it has you all covered with Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with support for A2DP and EDR, GPS for navigation and location-based services and more. As usual is the case with many flagships nowadays, a 3.5mm audio jack is nowhere to be seen in the Nubia X.
The ZTE Nubia X ships with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Nubia UI 6 which is Nubia’s take on Android customization out of the box.
Pricing, availability and paint jobs
Coming to the pricing and availability, the ZTE Nubia X is available in various online stores in China including AliExpress. As far as the paint jobs are concerned, it is available in Blue Gold, Sea Blue, Black Gold or Deep Gray. A special color called Starry Night is only available on the 512GB model of the Nubia X.
Design: An all-screen dual-screen smartphone
Up front, the ZTE Nubia X looks gorgeous, premium and exquisite with little to no bezels at all. Moreover, the dual display design of the smartphone helped ZTE to get rid of the notch for the good. Speaking of which, flip the device and you are greeted by the secondary display at the rear. Again, as I mentioned earlier, this innovative design decision helps the company to eliminate the need of front-facing camera setup.
