Design
Not much has changed in Xiaomis’ A-series lineup. The display is a 6.08 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720×1560. The resolution is definitely a step down when compared to its elder sibling the A2. However, the Super AMOLED display makes up for more than it is lost. The display has a teardrop notch cutout. The current industry standard to accommodate selfie camera. A3 has a 6mm chin which is a little more than the usual found on a smartphone these days.
On the rear side, things are a little unexpected. Xiaomi is offering a triple camera setup. Not something we see at this price point. The 3 cameras are arranged vertically along the line with the Xiaomi logo right below it. The Mi A3 comes in three color options Blue Planet, Dark Prince and White Lover with a glossy finish.
Specifications
The device is rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 combined with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Internal Storage. The lower resolution compliments the fairly massive battery life of 4030 mAh. Power users can expect a full day battery backup with this device. The A-series being powered by Google’s Android One has accounted for the best UI experience at this price point. Stock Android users will find themselves right at home.
Above all, the device runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Thanks to the Android One program the Mi A3 will be first in line to receive the latest Android Q updates when it comes out.
Camera
On the front, the teardrop notch is housing a 32-MegaPixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the rear, the triple camera setup comprises of a 48-MegaPixel lens at the f/1.79 aperture as the primary sensor. The secondary camera is an 8-MegaPixel lens with f/2.2 aperture. The tertiary is a 2-MegaPixel lens used for depth calculation in shots.
Although rear autofocus is present, OIS is lacking in all the camera sensors including the primary 48-MegaPixel sensor.
